2016 has been an extremely busy year between my photography, and my work with Orchard Media. I’ve ended up getting some great opportunities, and have created a lot of content I’m really proud of.
It's been a great year in terms of the variety of work I've been able to do, but if you're reading this, I imagine you know that music photography is my speciality - and I've certainly done a fair bit this year! Working in the music industry is not easy, but as you can see from the photo above - I do have a lot of fun doing it! I’ve shot some of my favourite bands of today, and have felt some extreme nostalgia photographing my favourite bands of my youth (photographing Slipknot and Limp Bizkit is something I’ll remember for a long time!).
I’ve also been able to shoot 2 more music festivals! Whilst 2000 Trees Festival and the legendary Reading Festival are at opposite ends of the scale in terms of their size - both were a blast to shoot, and I'm already looking forward to being back in a field next summer!
It’s been great shooting so many shows, but I’ve got to the point now that I no longer want to be shooting the same 3 songs as everyone else does for press. I want to be shooting something unique for bands and their fans. Going on my first ever tour with my friends in Dream State was a great experience, and a great taster in how spending more time with a band will result in a more varied and interesting body of work.
I’ve also been gifted some great opportunities in video production this year. I’ve been trusted to do more and more camera work by Orchard Media, and I got to direct my first TV Ad too (which you can see below). In addition to this I've had the opportunity to work abroad, and I've been able to work behind the scenes on a BBC documentary - which was a great learning experience. I've also started doing live videography this year, and I'm looking to take this a step further and hope to get into doing some music videos this upcoming year.
I'd like to say a big thank you to anyone who's trusted me enough to work for them this year, and also to anyone who's taken the time to check out my work. I have no intention to slow down in 2017, and I hope to work for as many bands and brands as possible!
Below are 16 of my photos from 2016. Happy New Year everyone!
